Golden Circle Classic TourCome with us on the classic Golden Circle tour of Iceland's most iconic landmarks which includes Þingvellir National Park with its rich history, Gullfoss waterfall with it overwhelming power and to the geothermal field and geysers with The Greate Geysir hot spring as its sometimes called and the frequently erupting Strokkur.
The Golden Circle tour showcases some of Iceland's most popular tourist attractions including the country's best known natural, cultural, and historic sites. Driving from Reykjavík the circle proceeds to the southern upland and back, covering about 300 kilometers (190 mi).
At Þingvellir National Park you can walk around the stunning area, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the tectonic plates of Europe and North America meet and where one of the world's oldest parliament was founded in 930 AD.
At Gullfoss (Golden Falls) you can view the majestic and thunderous waterfall from above or walk the path up close and feel the mist of water on your face. The force and beauty of this two tiered waterfall will be something your camera wants to linger on. Close by you can take a break and enjoy a bowl of Iceland's traditional Meatsoup at Gullfoss Restaurant and Café, among other dishes.
At Geysir geothermal area, home of the famous Geysir and Strokkur hot springs you can view down into earth through some of the geysers hot temperature waterholes. Even though Geysir has been laying low past few years, the Strokkur hot spring (The Churn) erupts every 5 minutes or so, making it one of the most active geyser. After a walk through the geothermal area you can step into Geysir Center's pleasant atmosphere with it's cafeteria, large souvenir shop and it's clothing store Geysir with traditional and modern designs.
On the way back a short stop at Fákasel Horse Park gives you a chance to educate yourself and meet the unique Icelandic horse breed or simply grab a hot or cold beverage.
The Golden Circle tour begins with a pick up in Reykjavík which takes you via Nesjavellir geothermal field* up to Þingvellir National Park.
From Þingvellir you‘re then treated up close and personal to one of Iceland‘s largest personalities Gullfoss
